Although the Staatsphilharmonie wind section keeps its end up, it’s the string players who dominate this concert, delivering three pearls from the chamber orchestra repertoire without conductor: Grieg’s “Holberg Suite”, Bach’s Doppelkonzert and Strauss’s addictive “Metamorphosen”. Who could wish for more?
