Le nozze di Figaro (The Mar­ria­ge of Figaro)

Count Almaviva, successful and held in high esteem, has all he could wish for - a beautiful wife, a capable staff and dalliances to which his subordinates turn a blind eye - yet it’s not enough for him. He cannot stop thinking about Susanna, the fiancée of Figaro, his valet. And now he’s gone too far. His people conspire to bring him down, and their rather basic and badly planned ruse works, because everyone wants to topple the patriarch from his pedestal. Mozart’s and Da Ponte’s deadpan comedy, delightfully depicting the Count’s decline, is so well observed that it is painful to watch.
