Jörg Widmann is not only one of the most-performed composers of our times; he is also at home in the concert halls of the world in his capacity as a virtuoso clarinetist. As both player and composer he now joins the Staatsphilharmonie in a homage to two German composers of the Romantic period whom he holds in highest esteem: Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, with a sonata and the lyrical religiosity of his “Reformation” Symphony, and Ludwig van Beethoven, to whom Widmann pays tribute in his short orchestral piece “Con brio”.

PROGRAMME:
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Jörg Widmann: Andante aus der Sonate Es-Dur in einer bearbeiteten Version für Klarinette, Streichorchester, Harfe und Celesta
Jörg Widmann: Fantasie für Klarinette solo
Jörg Widmann: Con brio
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Symphonie Nr. 5 D-Dur/d-Moll op. 107 „Reformation“
