Staatstheater Nürnberg, in collaboration with Musikzentrale Nürnberg, is offering one band from the Greater Nuremberg area a five-day residency in January 2027. Spend five days rehearsing, creating, and developing your music on one of the theatre's rehearsal stages, culminating in a final concert as part of "Nachtetage." The residency also includes €1,300 in funding as well as professional coaching.

Your Project Idea
We're looking for a music project that makes creative use of the rehearsal stage, embraces the unique setting, and is excited to explore new possibilities within a theatrical environment.
This could include, for example:
- Presenting a recent release
- Collaborating with other artists
- Developing a stage show that hasn't been possible before
- Producing an EP
- or any other exciting idea
Artist Profile
- Open to all genres
- No solo acts
- Your main base of activity should be within the Greater Nuremberg area (based on the VGN transport network region)
- Live performance experience is welcome, but you do not need to be a professional musician
Timeline
- Application deadline: Wednesday, September 30, 2026
- The jury will meet in mid-October and aims to announce its decision by the end of October.
- Residency: January 2–6, 2027, at Staatstheater Nürnberg
- Final concert: January 8, 2027, at 10:00 PM in the 3rd Floor Foyer, as part of "Nachtetage"
Space & Technical Equipment
We will provide technical equipment and backline in consultation with you. A photo of the rehearsal stage used for the residency is available below this text.
Coaching & Support
Depending on your needs, we will arrange for a professional coach to support you for one day. This could include expertise in:
- Videography
- Social media
- Recording
- Producing
- and more
Subject to availability, the theatre's costume, sound, props, and makeup departments may also be available to support your project.
