By public transport
Admission ticket = transport ticket
Your ticket to any event at the Staatstheater Nürnberg also covers your fare for return trip to and from the venue on the day of the performance. The ticket is valid on all services operated by the VGN (covering the entire transport network, 2nd class rail travel, surcharge-free trains) beginning 4 hours before start of performance and ending at close-down of transportation services. The VGN combo ticket rules apply. The admission ticket or the Print@Home ticket covers free use of public transport between the hours stated above. Your booking confirmation is not accepted as a ticket for travelling.
To plan your journey to and from the venue on the VGN transport network, you may wish to use the following online portals:
Opernhaus and Schauspielhaus
Take Underground lines U2/U21 and U3 to “Opernhaus”, from where there is direct access to the Opera. The Schauspielhaus with the Kammerspiele and the 3. Etage is located between Richard-Wagner-Platz and Karl-Pschigode-Platz only a few metres from the station.
Meistersingerhalle
Take Tram 9 from the main train station or Tram 6 and Bus 36 from Plärrer in the direction of Doku-Zentrum. Get off at “Meistersingerhalle”.
By car
Parking
There are a limited number of spaces available in the “Parkhaus Theater” situated between the Opernhaus and Schauspielhaus. Patrons can park there for a discounted flat fee of €4.00 by pressing the Theater button at the barrier when driving in. The ticket can be paid for at the machine either immediately or when leaving the car park. It is available from one hour prior to the performance and can be paid for up to approx. three hours after the end of the performance.
The “Parkhaus Sterntor” is located on the opposite side of the Frauentorgraben, within walking distance of the Opernhaus and Schauspielhaus. Patrons can likewise park here for €4.00, but a normal ticket must first be obtained at the barrier, to be paid for at the machine immediately prior to leaving the car park: the machine will read the ticket and display the standard parking fee, at which point the patron’s theatre ticket must be presented for scanning. The fee will then be reduced to €4.00. This works with smartphone tickets, too. After paying, which can be done up to approx. eight hours after the start of the performance, patrons should drive promptly out of the car park.
There is ample parking outside the Meistersingerhalle. The €5.00 flat fee also applies here for parking during a performance.
